Back in 1994, right after Halloween, when the world strip down to its daily clothes, Chair of the Vegan Society Louise Wallis decided to set November 1 as World Vegan Day. “I decided to go for 1 November, partly because I liked the idea of this date coinciding with Samhain/Halloween and the Day of the Dead..,” said Wallis, in a ARZone Guest Chat in Australia.
As the people across observe the World Vegan Day tomorrow we take a look at the Bollywood celebrities who turned vegetarians in order to adopt a healthier and cruelty-free lifestyle –
>) Shahid Kapoor – Shahid turned to vegetarianism when his father gifted him a book titled, ‘Life is Fair’ by Brian Hines and he was also felicitated by PETA as Asia’s sexiest vegetarian man in 2011.

>) Alia Bhatt – She quit eating meat one summer in order to avoid the heat, but turns out that she enjoyed it so much that is she still following the same, much to the joy of her vegetarian father, mahesh Bhatt.
>) Anushka Sharma – We all have seen her love for her ‘Dude’, her furry friend, all over social media. She quit meat because her dog hates the smell of meat and she has decided to stick to this lifestyle forever.

World Vegetarian Day initiates the month of October as Vegetarian Awareness Month, which ends on November 1 as World Vegan Day. The month has also been known as “Reverence for Life” month, “Month of Vegetarian Food”, and more.
