While the world celebrates International Women’s Day, from PM Modi’s speech on ‘Nari Shakti’, to Nita Ambani launching a women’s empowerment platform called ‘Her Circle’ in Hindi, here are some of the major developments from around the country that took place on the occasion.

Nita Ambani launches her women’s empowerment platform, ‘Her Circle’ in Hindi – On International Women’s day, Nita Ambani, Founder-Chairperson of Reliance Foundation launched her initiative on Tuesday, called ‘Her Circle’ in Hindi.

Launched a year ago, the digital platform, which has a reach of 42 million, focuses on the interrelation of the power of women and the digital revolution by covering a list of goals across digital usage and creating job opportunities.

“To reach more women in their language of ease, we are launching Her Circle in Hindi. Till now, thousands of job opportunities are created and the platform has connected the women with them,” said Ambani.

She believes that Her Circle (Hindi), which is a safe space for women to learn new things and upgrade their skills, will receive the same amount of encouragement as the English version of the platform did.

PM Modi salutes ‘Nari Shakti’ on Women’s Day – During his speech on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi emphasized women empowerment and said that the government will focus on creating more schemes by highlighting dignity and work opportunities.

“On Women’s Day, I salute ‘Nari Shakti’ and their accomplishments in different fields,” he said.

PM Modi also tweeted that the government has created several measures to ensure women’s empowerment and such as financial inclusion and social security and would continue to do so.

The PM will also address a seminar today, on Women’s Day, which would include Smriti Irani, Sadhvi Rithamabara, and many such strong female personalities.

Levi’s unveils season 7 of the #IShapeMyWorld Campaign on Women’s Day – On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Levi’s unveiled the seventh season of the #IShapeMyWorld campaign, which is a digital initiative by the brand.

This season focuses on empowering women through live sessions on the journeys of different women, initiating internship programmes, etc.

The theme of the campaign is – ‘Behind every successful woman, there is another woman cheering for her.’

Having been created in 2017, the initiative has featured around 50 women till date, including Zoya Akhtar, Faye D’Souza, Iti Rawat, and other inspirational women.

Google creates special doodles to celebrate International Women’s Day – To celebrate the day of women, Google created a slideshow of doodles dedicated to women, showcasing the spirit of womanhood and giving a glimpse into the lives of women across cultures.

From the work of a housewife to a wildlife photographer, the doodles, created by Doodle Art Director, Thoka Maer, showcase a variety of activities performed by women.

Along with the doodles, she also left a message for the women, which stated, “I want all women to be able to truly choose the life that they want to live and receive all the love and respect.”

Women artists create sculptures denoting International Women’s Day – On the occasion of International Women’s Day, female students of a sand artist, Sudarshan Patnaik’s Insitute, created sculptures on Puri Beach in Odisha, celebrating the day.

Appreciating the work, Patnaik took to Twitter to give them a shoutout for their artwork.

The sculpture reveals a woman sitting calmly, with ‘8 March’ written behind her, denoting Women’s Day.
