"I am on site with the @PoliceNat06 and the @pmdenice who arrested the perpetrator of the attack. I confirm that everything suggests a terrorist attack in the Basilica of Notre-Dame de #Nice06" https://t.co/RQUq18R4H1

Police confirmed that three people have died in the attack and several were injured. The French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s department said it had been asked to investigate.
This is the second assault this month. It comes as France is still reeling from the beheading by a man of Chechen descent of middle school teacher Paty earlier this month. The attacker had said he wanted to punish Paty in a civics lesson for showing students cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.
Nice was the target of one of France’s deadliest attacks in recent years, when a 31-year-old Tunisian drove a truck into crowds celebrating Bastille Day on 14 July 2016, killing 86 people.
