TN: O Panneerselvam to receive award in US

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam is to receive an award from a Chicago-based group for which he is all set to travel to the US between November 8 and 17. The deputy CM will be interacting with the Tamil community in the US.

The Rising Star of the Year – Asia award instituted by the American Multi Ethnic Coalition, will be presented to Panneerselvam on November 10 in Chicago. The American Multi Ethnic Coalition, according to their description on social media, is a “bipartisan grassroot level organization to empower ethnic communities through ‘social, educational, health, cultural & political initiatives'”.

In a tweet, Dr. Rofina Subash, a radio jockey, wrote that in a state-funded tour to the US from November 8 to November 17, deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will be awarded the International Rising Star of the Year – Asia from the American Multi Ethnic Coalition.

According to a release from his office, he will also be taking part in a discussion hosted by the Indian American Business Coalition as well as the American Tamil Entrepreneurs. It is expected that Panneerselvam will also be visiting New York, Washington DC and Houston and take part in meetings held by various organisations. The release stated that the visit will aim at wooing industrial investment.
