Today, Tamilisai Soundararajan current governor of Telangana sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The former President of Tamil Nadu BJP was given this position as an additional charge after Kiran Bedi was removed from the Presidential order this Tuesday. Kiran Bedi served as the LT Governor for the Union Territory since March 2016.

The CMO Puducherry tweeted, “HCM Shri V Narayanasami warmly welcomed the new HLG Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan at #Rajnivas #Puducherry”

Tamilisai Soundararajan has served as the governor of Telangana since 2019. She is an Indian medical doctor who served as the National Secretary and Tamil Nadu State Unit President of the BJP. She was also the first woman to hold the office as a Governor of Telangana.

Kiran Bedi was working on reviewing the vaccination drive in Puducherry and was also appointing more health workers and policemen for the frontline workers category. According to the sources from BJP with this move one of the biggest election issues has been taken away from the Congress party right before the elections.

As per the sources, Kiran Bedi was removed instead of a transfer to give the message to the people of Puducherry that the central government was not in favor of her either.
