Stock exchanges closed today for Diwali Balipratipada

The nation’s two premier stock exchanges, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have shut their operations for today on account of Diwali Balipratipada. Trading is closed for all wholesale commodity markets, including metal and bullion.

Sensex gained 248 points and Nifty 64.75 points yesterday, in a special one-hour ‘muhurat’ trading session, held every year to mark the advent of the Hindu New Year, considered to be auspicious for stock traders.

The list of holidays has been listed on both the BSE and NSE websites. Trading will resume on Friday.
