Statue Wars: After new Jayalalithaa statue, DMK to unveil new Karunanidhi statue

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) plans to unveil a new bronze statue of its late party leader MK Karunanidhi at their headquarters in Chennai on December 16. The move comes on the heels of the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu unveiling a new Jayalalithaa statue at their party office in Chennai.

The DMK also plan to refurbish the statue of DMK founder C N Annadurai.

Speaking about it, a DMK leader under the condition of anonymity said, “We applied for permission three months back and we have been waiting for the government to give an approval. Neither we have received a confirmation nor has the application been rejected. This is a deliberate delay on part of the government and this is nothing but pure political vendetta.”
