Sri Lankan Navy arrests Tamil Nadu Fishermen

Nagapattinam, November 16: The Sri Lankan Navy has apprehended 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen for straying into Sri Lankan waters today, ANI reported.

The fishermen, belonging to the Nagapattinam district, were caught by the Sri Lankan Navy as they were fishing along the coast of Point Pedro in Northern Sri Lanka. The captured fishermen have been taken to the Kangesan Port for enquiry. One boat belonging to the fishermen was also seized.

Officials in the Sri Lankan Navy claim the arrest was made as the fishermen were illegally fishing in Lankan waters. This incident comes three days after the Indian Coastal guard misfired on fishermen in Rameswaram.
