‘SPYder’ expects $1 mn gross in first day across U.S

The Mahesh-Babu starrer directed by A.R. Murugadoss has opened to positive reviews

SPYder, a spy thriller starring Mahesh Babu and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is expected to cross $1 million in its first-day grosses in the United States of America. The movie has opened in more than 300 screens across the U.S, with ticket presales raking in more than $600,000, according to Forbes.

 

Earlier this year, Baahubali 2 received $10 million grossing in its opening weekend, with $1.07 million as its Tuesday gross. SPYder would be the third highest-grossing Telugu film after the two Baahubali movies, the Forbes report mentioned.

The movie, which is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, has opened to positive reviews. Kaushik LM, rated the movie 3.25 out of 5, adding that SJ Suryah, Mahesh Babu and Harris Jayaraj as its “indisputable highlights”.

 

Prashanth Rangaswamy, a YouTube movie reviewer, gave the movie 70 out of 100 and called the movie a “solid entertainer”.

 

Hemanth Kumar for Firstpost gave the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars, calling it “the smart spy thriller Telugu cinema needed”, lauding it for being “extremely aware of what it’s doing”.
