Gang of four arrested for smuggling snake venom worth Rs. 1.7 Crore. All four to remain under police custody till October 29.

Raigad Police in Maharashtra arrested four members of an inter-state gang for allegedly smuggling snake venom of worth Rs. 1.7 crore in illicit markets. The venom was seized by Raigad Police immediately after arresting the gang.

Police arrested Rajaram Jaiswar (46) and Udaynath Jaiswar (37) at Mandva Jetty, Raigad and seized the snake venom which was packed and hidden in a water bottle. Another accused who was arrested from Malvani in Mumbai confessed to Raigad Police that two people from Gujarat had handed over the venom to them.

Devilal Joshi (36) who is originally from Bikaner, Rajasthan and SantoshKumar Singh (35) from Uttar Pradesh were later arrested by the police from Vapi, district of Gujarat.

The gang of four is sent in the police custody till October 29 by a local court. Police will further investigate the accused about the original dealer of venom and the purpose for which they were about to use it.
