Saina, Sindhu and Srikanth advance to pre-quarterfinals of French Open

In Badminton, 10 Indian shuttlers, including PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth, will play their pre-quarterfinal matches of the French Open in Paris today. While Saina will face eighth seed Nozomi Okuhara, Sindhu, placed third, will take on another Japanese Sayaka Sato.

In Men’s Singles, fifth seed Srikanth will face South Korean Lee Dong-Keun, while B. Sai Praneeth will shuttle it out against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie.
The Men’s Doubles pairs of Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty, and Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy, and the Women’s Doubles team of Meghana Jakkampudi and Poorvisha S. Ram will also play their Round-of-16 matches today.

Saina Nehwal beat Saena Kawakami of Japan to enter the second round of the women’s singles event of the French Open 2018 on Wednesday. In a match that lasted 37 minutes, the Indian beat her opponent 21-11, 21-11, in a one-sided affair.  In the men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth defeated Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong in straight games to enter the second round. PV Sindhu took revenge in style against Beiwen Zhang 21-17, 21-8 in the first round.
