Rana Daggubati replaces Nana Patekar in Housefull 4

Nana Patekar quits Housefull 4 following sexual harassment allegations. Rana Daggubati joins the ensemble cast of Housefull 4, replacing Patekar.

The Telugu star was given a narration last week and he signed the film on Monday. For the first time Rana will star in a comedy franchise and the actor is quite excited about it. While talking to the Mumbai Mirror, Rana said, “It is always good to find work outside of Hyderabad, get to learn so much and do so many new things.” Apart from a successful career in Telugu and Tamil cinema, Daggubati has appeared in several Hindi films including Dum Maaro Dum (2011), Baby(2015) and the Telugu-Hindi biligual The Ghazi Attack (2017).

Daggubati will reportedly play a ghazal singer in the comedy. The scenes involving Patekar that were filmed in Jaisalmer, will be re-shot with Rana in Mumbai. The film was earlier being directed by Sajid Khan but now, Farhad Samji director of Housefull 3 has taken over. This decision has come after Sajid stepped down from the role, amidst sexual harassment allegations against him by 3 women, in October.

Tanushree Dutta in September reopened a 10-year-old sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar for intimidating and harassing her while she was filming a song on the sets of the unreleased 2008 film Horn Ok Pleasss, in which she revealed that the 67-year-old actor misbehaved with her when they were filming for a song sequence in 2008. Tanushree, who eventually dropped out of the film, also said that Nana Patekar sent political party goons to intimidate her. Patekar has called the allegations “motivated and malicious”.

Housefull 4 is the fourth installment of the Housefull comedy series created by Sajid Khan. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Kharbanda and Kriti Sanon. Despite all the controversies surrounding this movie, Housefull 4 is slated for a Diwali 2019 release.
