As the tripura assembly elections coming up on
February 18,prime minister Narendra Modi will
adress two election campaign rallies in
Sonamura and Kailashahar today. This will be
Modi’s first political rally in Tripura after
the 2014 elections. The India- Bangladesh
borders adjoining the Unakoti and Sipahijala
districts of Tripura has been sealed for heavy
security reasons.
The Communist Party of India has been in power
in Tripura for the past 26 years.
Manik Sarkar who is the Chief minister of
tripura will be contesting from his domain for
the fifth consecutive time.He has retained
Dhanpur assembly constituency since 1998.
While the BJP had released its list of
candidates for the Tripura elections, it has
refrained from announcing a chief ministerial
candidate in Tripura.
