Bhubneshwar: The  Odisha Government on Tuesday revised the pay structure of the laborers with a hike in their daily wage. Semi-skilled laborers will get Rs 320 and unskilled laborers will earn Rs 280

Earlier, unskilled workers were earning Rs 200 and semi-skilled laborers were earning Rs 220.

Similarly, the daily wage of the skilled laborers has been raised from Rs 240 to Rs 370 while for the highly skilled workers, it has been fixed at Rs 430 as against Rs 260.

The State Minimum Wages Advisory Board and the state government has made this revision after three years. Increase in the Consumer Price Index, rate of inflation, prevailing rates in the market and prevailing minimum wages in the neighboring states are some of the reasons behind the revision.

The Government is expecting to mitigate the rise in migration of workers to other states and the revised minimum wage is at par with minimum wages prescribed in neighboring states.
