Meenakshi Lekhi departs for official visit to Uzbekistan and Switzerland today

Delhi- In a week long official visit starting from September 23- September 30, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture will arrive at Tashkent today, the first pittstop of the trip, according to press release of the Ministry of External Affairs.

Between September 23-26 the Minister shall meet with the meet Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov and Minister of Culture H.E. Mr. Ozodbek Nazarbekov. Thereafter she will deliver a lecture on ‘India’s democratic traditions’ at the prestigious Tashkent State University of Law.

The minister is scheduled to have an interaction with members of the Indian community in Tashkent. She will also address the students of Bukhara State University and interact with Indian students at Samarkand State Medical Institute.

The Minister of State shall visit Switzerland between September 27-30, where she will interact with H.E. Dr. Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Minister) and H.E. Mr. Alain Berset, Federal Councillor, Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture.

She will also participate and address the first NZZ Impact Finance Conference on Infrastructure in emerging markets – an engine of growth and real impact. She is also scheduled to address the Annual General Meeting of Swiss-India Chamber of Commerce. The Minister will also meet with the Indo-Swiss community in Geneva before ending her trip.
