India to rollout Covid vaccine

The WHO chief Tedros Adhanom said that India’s decision to resume COVID-19 vaccine supplies to the world is a very important and crucial development in the support to reach the goal of 40% vaccination completion in every country in the world.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday announced that in the fourth quarter this year, the Government of India will resume Vaccine Maitri, an initiative to provide Covid vaccines to countries around the world and also fulfil its responsibility under Covax.

Chief scientist of World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Soumya Swaminathan on Tuesday welcomed India’s decision to restart COVID-19 vaccine exports. She said that the decision will go long way to achieve global Vaccine Equity.
