As the cricketer turns 32, here’s a look at his brand endorsements and how the cricket fraternity extended their wishes to the skipper.
In the course of last decade, no other batsman has move higher or increased more standing than Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli. Since his debut in 2008, Kohli has stepped his position to be viewed as one of, if not the best, batsmen of the contemporary time. Because of his consistency and class, Kohli is being spoken at the same time as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, two cricketers with the greatest fan base in India.
Among Indian batsmen, Kohli has the best ever Test, ODI and T20I rating with 937, 911 and 897 points respectively. As far as records go, Kohli, with 42 tons, is next only to the great Tendulkar in terms of leading century-makers in ODIs and holds the record for being the fastest batsman to reach 8000, 9000, 10000 and 11000 runs in ODIs.
Virat Kohli is one of the most sought after cricketers for brand endorsements. Earlier this year, Kohli was the only cricketer in the list of top 100 highest-paid athletes of 2020 by Forbes magazine. He is also the highest paid cricketer in the world with an estimated annual income of $28 million.
Here is the list of top five brands that Kohli endorses:
In 2016, the popular ethnic wear brand, Manyavar, appointed Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador. Anushka Sharma, too, is one of their ambassadors and the couple had even done a commercial together for Manyavar two years ago.
2. Vicks India
In 2012, Virat Kohli became the brand ambassador of Vicks India.
3. MRF Tyres
Virat has a bat sponsorship with MRF Tyres since years now. He renewed this deal in 2017 for another eight years.
4. Too Yumm
In 2018, Kohli was seen in the TVC of Too Yumm, which is a brand of Guiltfree Industries Limited. Stating that the product is a multigrain healthy snack, the company announced Virat as its brand ambassador.
5. Audi India
Virat signed a five crore endorsement deal with Audi in 2015. The brand even gifted Virat a Q7 car on its 10th cricket anniversary in 2017. Since then Virat and Audi India haven’t parted ways.
Wishes for the Indian captain came from all across the globe. Many took to social media to wish him on his 32nd birthday. Former India cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina, along with India wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, fast bowler Mohammed Shami, spinner R Ashwin and many more extended their wishes to Kohli as the hashtag “HappyBirthdayViratKohli” began trending.
