state government have no say in cancelling the final year exams says UGC in its petition

Chennai-  Arts, science and engineering college final year students who had arrears in the past were declared all pass by the Tamil Nadu Government considering the ongoing surge in the covid cases. Madras University alone had passed more than one lakh students with arrear and Opposing to that petition was filed by the ex VC of anna university.

Regarding to that case University Grants Committee today informs Chennai High Court in its petition that “It is mandatory to conduct final exams in Tamilnadu” and has said the state government does not have the power to declare results for the final examinations based on the previous examination marks of final year students.

UGC has also referred to the Supreme Court  dismissal of the cases against the conduct of the final examination.

And also said the extension for conducting the final exam can be extended beyond September 30.
