CHENNAI: Jailed AIADMK neta Sasikala’s husband, M Natarajan was reportedly stable after an organ transplant that began late on Tuesday night.

Doctors at Glenegales Global Hospitals in Chennai did a seven and a half hour kidney and liver transplant on Natarajan, according to a doctor at the Institute of Liver Diseases and Transplantation.

The organs were from Karthik N (90), a daily wage earner. He was admitted to a government hospital in Tanjore in a critial state. He was later flown to Chennai by an air ambulance.

“Against medical advice, the family decided to move him to a private hospital for second opinion and specialized care. The family chose to transfer

him to Glenegales Global Hospitals in Chennai for further specialized care. The patient was seen by the neurological and trauma team and provided further treatment at the centre. Despite treatment, he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced brain-dead on Tuesday,” a hospital communiqué said.

Sasikala’s petition requesting a parole for 15 days, to visit her husband was rejected by the court. Mr Dhinakaran said he was informed by their advocate that her plea for parole had been rejected due to insufficient details. “If she seeks parole properly again, I am sure she will get it,” he added.
