NEW DELHI: Chennai trial is an incidental finding rather than related to vaccine, said Dr Randeep Guleria, director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), on Thursday while responding to vaccine impact during Chennai trials.
On last week, a 40-year-old man from Tamil Nadu, who took part in the ‘Covishield’ vaccine trial, alleged that he suffered from serious side effects including a virtual neurological breakdown and impairment of cognitive functions.

” When we vaccinate a large number of people, some of them may have some other disease, which may not be related to vaccine,” Mr. Guleria told ANI. He also added that they are data available which shows, short term vaccine is safe, “There is good data available that the vaccines are safe. Abut 70,000-80,000 volunteers were given the vaccine and no significant serious adverse effects seen.”
Guleria also mentioned that the vaccines are in their final stage and hopefully will be available by the end of December or early January.
