India has reported a single day jump of 49,881 Covid-19 cases, even as the tally has crossed the 8-million mark, the Union health ministry said on Thursday. Out of the total Covid-19 cases, 8,040,203 are currently active, 7,315,989 have been discharged, while 1,20,563 lost the battle against the pandemic.
As of 28th October, Maharashtra has 1,660,766 coronavirus cases, Andhra Pradesh 814,774, Karnataka 812,784, Tamil Nadu 716,751 and UP 476,034. The rise in new infections reflects the spread of the disease in some states as authorities brace for a new wave in the pandemic after Diwali, when the winter sets in, stated NDTV. The COVID-19 case fatality rate has further declined to 1.49 per cent.
