Madhya Pradesh: Congress alleges Rs.8,935 crore scam in allotment of E-tendering contracts

Congress on  Wednesday alleged irregularities  in the allotment of e-tendering contracts in Madhya Pradesh under BJP. The alleged scam is of Rs 8,935 crore.

Congress announced that the party would probe the irregularities if voted to power. The party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the estimate of the scam could even go up to “Rs.50,000 crore”. This would be confirmed after an investigation. He claimed Congress has documents concerned to the alleged irregularities.

BJP has come up with it’s part, saying that the matter would be investigated by the Economic Offences Wing(EOW) of the state police.

Mr.Surjewala claimed that the congress had in its possession the documents concerned with the alleged scam.”The Congress was apprehensive that the computer hard disk and other evidence might be destroyed,” he alleged.

The congress leader said that the BJP government had hired a private company to develop an e-tendering software, which he said was “tampered with” to lower the value of the online bids quoted by select private companies so as to bring it on par with the lowest bids.

He also added that the role of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state Chief Secretary BP Singh could also be suspected in the matter. He called the scam “an organised loot of public resources”and said congress would constitute a “public commission” to probe the matter.
