The issue of electoral bonds is major and  led the Congress to step out and protest at the Parliment premises

Congress MPs held a protest against the issue of electoral bonds in the Parliament premises on Friday, demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi breaks his silence over it.

Several senior Congress leaders including, Shashi Tharoor , Karti Chidmbram and Manish Tewari were seen at the protest site near the Gandhi Statue.

The issue of electoral bonds has snowballed into a political flashpoint following reports that the Reserve Bank of India and the Election Commission had reservations against them, but were overruled by the Modi government.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, leader of Congress in Lok Sabha urge that the government should form a committee to examine the “electoral bonds” and claimed that it as a plan to fill the coffers of BJP to fund the elections.

Congress stepped out at parliament premises when Union Minister and Bhartiya Janta Party leader, Piyush Goyal on Thursday said electoral bonds “brought in honest money” in Politics. The remarks were made after the protest by Congress in the Lok Sabha, saying that through the issuance of electoral bonds, the government had made corruption.

A report in HuffPost India on Monday  disclosed that Centre disregarded the Reserve Bank of India’s suggestion of not launching the electoral bonds as political parties receives a lot of funds.
