Two terrorist militants were shot dead in an encounter with security forces, in Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning. During the search operations, the militants, who were hiding in a residential house, initiated fire on the security forces, drawing retaliation.
One of the terrorists have been identified as Mukhtar A. Khan, a local resident of Brass Arizal, Budgam.
One army jawan has been injured in the encounter, his condition is stable now. Stone pelters also attacked an Asian News International (ANI) van, smashing the windshield, after the encounter happened. The media crew had gone there to cover the situation when the incident took place.
Security forces had launched a special team of operations based on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in Zagoo Arizal area in the district. The police has recovered arms, ammunition and incriminating material from the site.
Earlier this week, two terrorists had been gunned down by security forces, including the nephew of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, following a day-long encounter at Tral in Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The news of killing triggered several people to rush to the spot as result of which massive clashes took place. Internet services have been snapped in the region, and people have been advised not to go near the encounter region. In the last 10 days, a total of 14 militants have been shot down in the on-going anti-terror operations.
