Delhi, November 17: Vehicles, except those for essential services, from outside will be banned from entering the city, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot had said that the city government is hiring around 1,000 buses to control pollution from private vehicles.

According to a recent analysis by the Centre for Science and Environment, vehicles are among the biggest contributors to particulate pollution in Delhi. The Delhi government is working on ways to tackle the severe air pollution in the city.
