Tamilisai Soundararajan formally takes additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry
Puducherry, February 18: Tamilisai Soundararajan formally took
additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on Thursday.

According to ANI, the Telangana Governor was sworn in today in the presence of  Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy .

He also welcomed the newly-appointed LG at Raj Nivas on Wednesday.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was in Puducherry yesterday. According to an NDTV report, there he met members of the fishing community and college students.

His visit followed a potential crisis just weeks before the upcoming Puducherry Assembly elections in May this year. Four senior Congress leaders quit in the past 30 days. A Namassivayam and E Theeppainjan resigned on January 25. Malladi Krishna Rao and John Kumar quit this week.  Chief Minister V Narayanasamy’s government could lose its majority

In the 2016 Assembly election, Congress won 15 seats. It formed the government with support of the DMK and an independent candidate. Now, after the resignations the Congress-led government has gone below 10, while the Opposition now has 14.

Also, on February 16, former Lieutenant Governor of the state, Kiran Bedi was removed from her post by President Ram Nath Kovind.
