Melbourne, February 18: Naomi Osaka thrashed Serena Williams 6-3, 6-4 in the Australian Open women’s semi-final to reach the finals. In 38 minutes, Osaka sealed the first set 6-3. Even in the second set, Osaka broke Serena’s first service game and took a 1-0 lead. Serena later went on to level the set at 4-4 with Osaka. But Osaka bounced back by breaking Serena’s serve by taking a 5-4 lead. While serving for the match, Osaka went on to clinch the second set 6-4.
The women’s singles final will take place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Saturday 20 February.
