The Supreme Court was hearing a petition field by Republic TV Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami where he is seen seeking an interim bail in the case regarding the suicide of Anvay Naik, his interior designer. Goswami denied the allegations that he owed money to Naik. He stated that the arrest was illegal and politically motivated as it was evident from the proceedings which were initiated against him. A day before liberty was restored by the court, Arnab also filed for pre arrest bail before Mumbai session court who denied him the interim bail in the abetment to suicide case.
The Supreme Court Board Association wrote a letter to the apex court to protest against the special treatment accorded to Arnab Goswami. The SCBA also questioned that whether there were any special orders from the Chief Justice of India regarding this as it is evident that “extraordinary urgent listings” of matters cannot take place without orders from the Chief Justice of India.
