The National award winning actor resigns citing busy schedule as the reason
Anupam Kher has decided to resign from his post as the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India. The actor cited his commitment to international projects as the reason behind his resignation. The news comes after the completion of the project ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ in which he has portrayed the role of former PM Manmohan Singh.
It has been an honour, a privilege & a great learning experience to be the Chairman of the prestigious @FTIIOfficial. But because of my international assignments I won’t have much time to devote at the institute. Hence decided to send my resignation. Thank you. 🙏 @Ra_THORe pic.twitter.com/lglcREeYM2

He was appointed as the Chairman on Oct 11, 2017 replacing the controversial chairman Gajendra Chauhan. When Kher was appointed, the students of FTII protested the decision by pointing out a conflict of interest as he also owned an acting school.
