As expected, the snowfall over the Western Himalayas has started today. The snowfall is happening due to a fresh Western Disturbance.
This snowfall, however, is likely to cause widespread and moderate rainfall in areas including Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh over the weekend.
The pictures posted by the ANI in twitter showcasing the Rashel Village in Lahaul-Spiti district has an impression of whit blanket of snow covering that village.
The Lahaul and Spiti district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is known for its harsh climatic conditions.
The IMD’s Wednesday night bulletin said that a low-pressure area has formed over Southeast Arabia under the influence of a cyclonic circulation.
