Telangana has reported 609 COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,71,492.
According to the state’s Health Department, the total of cases in the state has increased to 2,71,492 including 2,61,028 discharged cases and 1,465 deaths due to the virus. The active cases are 8,999 in the entire state as of now. According to the data given out of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has reported 422943 active COVID-19 infections in last 24 hours
The cases a witnessing a rise due to violation COVID protocols, such as, wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitizers and washing of hands regularly. According to a report by the Hindu, the Health department officials have estimated that the cases surged due to large number of people who celebrated the festivals Bathukamma and Dasara in full swing although officials had advised the people to celebrate them in a low scale and within family.
The people of Telangana have lives through eight months of the pandemic as the first case of COVID-19 was recorded on March 2, 2020. 2.4 lakh people have been infected so far since then. The state has now become a little relaxed with the precautionary measures and have failed to realize that the challenges of the pandemic are still not over. Speculations have also been made for the onset of winter would enable the virus to spread a lot more easily.
