One pilot is dead and another hospitalized after an Air Force T-38C Talon crashed at the Laughlin Air Force Base of the Texas Air Force base on Tuesday night.

The names of the pilots of the training aircraft are being withheld pending family notification, a statement from the base said. The Airforce said the injured pilot was taken to Val Verde Regional Medical Centre in Del Rio, Texas, 7 miles from the base. Emergency responders and board officers are on scene, according to the statement.

The Laughlin Air Force Base, the largest pilot training base facility of the United States Air Force, is home to the 47th Flying Training Wing of the Air Education and Training Command. It sees more take-offs and landing than any other airport in the country on weekdays and trains about 150 students each year.
